Ongoing projects
• Educating through symphonic music. Ambitions of adult education in Swedish Symphony Orchestras 1940-2000. Connected to this project is research into the establishment of musical societies in Swedish provincial towns from the end of the 18th Century.
• Teaching Popular Music. Hagström and the Field of Music Education The project concentrates on the widespread teaching of accordion that the company Hagström Music pursued from the 1940s to 1980.
Besides researching this field I am a member of the Frosta Accordion Club, a study and performance group that meets regularly every second week. I also belong to the women's choir Vox Feminea in Lund.
• In 2010 I initiated the Tobias Norlind scholarly seminars at the Department of Musicology in Lund and I am at present the coordinator of this seminar series (cf. www.musikforskningilund.se).
• In August 2012 I was a member of a group of Swedish researchers in Social Sciences and Humanities invited by the ASAN Institute in Seoul, South Korea for the conference Understanding the Swedish Welfare Model. My presentation “Cultural Policy in the Swedish Welfare State” will be published as a report from this conference in 2013. It can also be downloaded here: PDF (Paper); PDF (Powerpoint, 6 MB)
• In 2013 I was a member of the evaluating committee set up by the Universitetskanslersämbetet (Swedish Higher Education Authority) for Film Studies, History of Art, Fashion Studies, Musicology and Performing Art Studies. This Evaluation Round was completed in November 2013.
• This summer (2015) I have evaluated seven applicants for a position at the University of Örebro as a professor in musicology
• I am at present (Fall 2015) evaluating thirteen applicants for a position as a professor in Music pedagogics at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm
• I am also right now (Fall 2015) collecting material for biographies and worklists on lesser known Swedish composers. Four of those have already been published on the website set up by the project Swedish Musical Heritage. Three biographies will follow later this year.
